Cirque du Soleil is a great performance empire and the most called for troop in the world. It was founded by two former street performers Guy Laliberté (current Chief Executive of Cirque du Soleil) and Daniel Gauthier in Baie-Saint-Paul, Canada in 1984.

Originally it was planned for Caesar's Palace but in1990 the plan seemed to be too risky for circus’ main financial sponsor - Mirage Casino. It was first performed only on 25 December 1993 - since almost four years after the project had been ready. According to the conservative views of the sponsor, the show was modified and focused on origins of life in the universe, although authors managed to remain some mythological elements intact.

The circus went an extremely long way from a street show to the Big Stage, from 73 employees to currently 3,500 actors of over 40 countries, from a couple of tricks to fifteen performance programs touring every continent and annual revenue of more than $600 million USD.
