See George Lopez Live

On April 23 back in 1961, the famous Mexican-American Comedy Actor George Lopez was born in California, specifically in the San Fernando Valley. He was brought up by his grandmother as his parents abandoned him at such a young age. Instead of growing up with angst and becoming a cynical adult, George Lopez used this experience as ticket to his unique brand of comedy.

George Lopez takes on poverty and related financial hardships as his ticket to doing comedy acts. He brings in a biting sense of satirical humor for his fans and audiences. During his early years of doing comedy, Lopez appeared in Los Angeles comedy clubs. As he grew in experience, albums and a television show became his ticket to enter the mainstream world of comedy. It also helps a lot that George can tap into different fields and is considered a multi-talented artist.

The first comedy album released by Lopez was entitled “Right Now Right Now” and it was launched back in 2001. Another album followed suit, “Team Leader”, in 2004 and it was his ticket to bag an Emmy Nomination at that time.

But all of these are mere icing on the cake. It was “The George Lopez Show” which gave him ticket to become a well-known national comedy performer. The show found home in ABC and was placed on a prime time spot. George Lopez himself co-created, wrote, produced, and of course starred on the said show. As proof of his show’s appeal, Forbes Magazine ranked him as 85th on their list of “The 100 Top Celebrities” list. The magazine even went on to say that the guy actually makes an annual income of 12 million dollars.

Though Lopez has now enjoyed the benefits of becoming a household name, he still does live show engagements and is usually booked at prestigious venues. A sales resulting to sold-out ticket is a George Lopez trademark.

Although enjoying fame and fortune, Lopez also had his shares of mishaps and controversy. He was known to have a small feud against Carlos Mencia over the alleged stealing of his comic material. He also showed criticism over guest show host Jay Leno who he had once considered as a close a friend. This happened during Lopez’s interview on WOMX-FM.

Apart from personal issues, George Lopez also suffered from some serious illness which pushed him to undergo a kidney transplant. Ann, his own wife, became his donor and the event had also become a subject on his own series.
