Gretchen Wilson Biography

Gretchen Frances Wilson was born June 26th 1973 at Pocahontas, Illinois and is the winner of many awards including a Grammy Award in 2005. She is a country music singer and songwriter that began singing at the age of 20 professionally. Her first single Redneck Woman, released in 2004 was a hot favorite and was No 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 22 on the Billboard hot 100. The huge success prompted an early release of her debut album “Here for the party” with Epic Records which sold more than five million copies and bagged several awards including the Country Music Association award, American Music Association award as well as the Billboard Music awards. She won the Grammy Award for best female vocalist for her song Redneck Woman.

Gretchen Wilson went on to release her second album All Jacked Up which was certified Platinum and sold 1 million copies. Gretchen also performed as a support artist for Montgomery Gentry and Brooks and Dunn. On the 28th of February 2006, Gretchen had appeared on The Twisted Brown Trucker and Kid Rock Band's "Live" Trucker where she performed the famous "Picture" which had been previously recorded at Detroit's Cobo Hall on the 26th of March 2004. Gretchen’s new single “Come to the Bed was another favorite and the video received a TV-14S rating on CMT. The song “I don’t feel like loving you today” was nominated for 2 Grammy awards and “You don’t have to go home” is her latest release. Her latest album “One of the boys” was also a huge success.
