Daytona 250 Information

Daytona 250 is the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing or NASCAR owned Craftsman truck series that has been in existence since 1995 and is a unique racing that is seen in the Daytona International super speed way in Florida as it is the only racing series that uses modified versions of pick up trucks for racing. Craftsman has been the main sponsor for this racing event since the racing event began in 1995.

The origin of the Truck series started when a group of four off-road racers came up with a prototype model of a pickup truck and conducted demonstration races at the Daytona 500 race during the 1994 season and subsequently in three other races of the winter season. These racing trucks became a rage among many racing fans and this popularity made NASCAR include truck racing in its racing series from 19995 which was called as Super Truck Series then. The truck racing got wide support from popular and top notch racing drivers and thus Craftsman Truck Series was born. The popularity of the NASCAR truck series increased as each year unfolded with regular changes in the racing rules from traditional short track rules to intermission races to halfway fuel stops and so on.

The Chevy Silverado HD 250 is another popular race of the Craftsman Truck Series that came into limelight in 2000 and is the first race to be conducted under flood lights. The inaugural race saw a very horrifying accident that involved collision of about 14 trucks. The trucks used in these races do not have restrictor plates like the ones seen in the NASCAR cars as the horse power of the truck's engines will not go as high as the cars. The past race winners include Mike Wallace, Robert Pressley, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin. It is an absolute spectacle for the fans to see the trucks racing under lights in the world's most popular race tracks at Daytona in Florida.
