According to Bobby Valentine, Major League Baseball should think in the lines of permitting its players to have a presence in the Olympics. This is a suggestion directed at the game's admission in the 2016 games. At the moment only those players who are not present in the 25-players MLB list can be considered to be present at the Beijing Olympics that is due in august. The International Olympic committee had dropped the game from the 2012 Olympics as it did not like the fact that the best of the men did not compete at the game.
Valentine suggests that the MLB take the example set by the Japanese leagues. He says that they are a total of 12 teams and they send a total of 28 players for the Olympics. If MLB sends a team to the Olympics there can be one member from each team. Valentine was speaking at a news conference in Tokyo on the event of the promotion of "The Zen of Bobby V." It is a documentary by Andrew Muscato, Jonah Quickmire Pettigrew and Andrew Jenks. It is being shown at the famous Tribeca Film Festival. Valentine started his second stint at Chiba Lotte marines of Japan in 2004 and is of the opinion that MLB should take the example of the method of the Japanese leagues.
