Christina Aguliera

Born in Staten Island, New York on December 18, 1980, Christina Aguilera has led a very successful career in pop music. Aguliera began her performance career at a very young age when she was featured on the Mickey Mouse Club along with her now pop music competition, Britney Spears. Winning a Grammy Award for her first and 8 time platinum self-titled album Christina Aguilera in 1999, the artist quickly moved to the top of the charts with 4 hit singles from this album alone. Along with this hit album, Aguilera sold out Arenas all over the world.

Since her first full length, Aguliera has released 5 other albums. In 2000, she released her Latin album titled Mi Reflejo as well as her Christmas album titled My Kind of Christmas. 2001 brought an unofficial release titled Just Be Free. The controversial and sexually provocative album Striped was released in 2002 which was not as well received as predicted though it still peaked at #2 on the charts and sold more than 300,000 copies in the first week Christina Aguileras latest effort for 2006 is titled Back to Basics which had sold 860,000 in the US and 2 million worldwide since its release on August 15 topping the charts at #1 in the US, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Germany.

Following the release of Aguileras album Striped were photo shoots for well known magazines Maxim, Rolling Stone and Cosmo Gilrl!. In many of these photos, Christina Aguliera was featured nude or at least semi-nude. Branded by the media as an act to gain attention from the media, Christina denied the accusations with claims that her actions were more fitting to her personality rather than the previous images that she had been known for earlier in her career. In addition to these changes, she began referring to herself as Xtina. When questioned about this change, Christina Aguilera replied that it pertained more to her darker side.

After a brush with Christina Aguileras provocative side, the world was given a more mature image by the artist. Such headlines as From Crass to Class in articles which praised her rather than criticized this move were everywhere. In her more mature actions, Aguilera was featured in an advertisement that urged people to vote in the 2004 United States presidential election for the not-profit company Declare Yourself. In addition to this ad, she visited the Oprah Winfrey show and expressed her feelings on the importance of voting.

2006 brought a Marilyn Monroe-inspired nude photo shoot with the magazine GQ. In the interview with Christina Aguilera she spoke of disappointment in artist Mariah Carey: "She was never cool to me... to the point that one time we were at a party and I think she got really drunk, and she had just really derogatory things to say to me." Again Aguilera was accused of using this supposed incident ad a cry for attention. Careys response to the interview was "It is sad yet predictable that she would use my name at this time to reinvent past incidents for her promotional gain."

See Christina Aguilera live as she has been voted by MTV to be within the 100 Greatest Pop Vocalists at number 22. Dont miss your chance to catch this provocative and controversial artist live on stage for her next tour. Youll find the Christina Aguilera tickets you want with VividSeats.com.
