The Western Michigan Broncos are the members of the Division I A and the MAC (the Mid-American Conference). They started their career in football at the beginning of 1906.

The years since 1990 till 1993 were quite successful for the Western Michigan Broncos. Though the 1993 season was a bit disappointing, the next one they started as MACs favorites. In 1996 when the Western Michigan Broncos lost to the team from Wyoming and it was decided not to renew the contract with Al Molde.
