About Josh Groban

Classical and pop singer sensation , Josh Groban,  made his singing debut in the seventh grade when he discovered scat singing in a school talent show.  Under life's circumstances, he did not completely occupy his mind with music until a few years later as a high school student. Josh Groban  attended los angeles high school for the arts and also spent some time studying theatre at Carnegie Mellon, but in late 1998 he was introduced to producer/arranger and writer David Foster by  his vocal coach, and dropped out of school to work as a rehearsal singer on a sequence of  high profile events, including stepping in for Andrea Bocelli at the Grammy rehearsals. Rosie O'donnell, who was that year's Grammy host, was impressed and invited Groban on her talk show. That talk show is what led Josh Groban to lead  a few guest spots on Ally Mcbeal.

His education was put on hold when he was offered a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records, and from there it led to his self titled album "Josh Groban", which was made in November of 2001 and would come to sell over 3 million copies.

Josh Grobans recording debut was made singing "for always" with Lara Fabian on the A.I. Artificial Intelligence soundtrack. Throughout the next year, Josh Groban, essentially became a star, with his album going triple platinum, guest spots on talk shows, his own special on PBS, and the Josh Groban In Concert DVD has been recently certified gold.

From there, Josh Groban went to perform at the nobel peace prize concert in Oslo, Norway, singing "the prayer" and "to where you are", and later, joined The Corrs, Ronan Keating, Sting, and others at the Vatican  for a holiday performance.

In November of 2003, Josh Groban released his second album, "closer", and just two months later it bounced to the number one spot on the Billboard album charts, with its smash hit "you raise me up", even though half of its songs are in foreign languages.

The twenty-year-old Josh Groban has a voice as compelling and talented as you are likely to hear in the world of pop or classical music, which is why he has been called "The New Boy Wonder Of Voice" by the critics of The New York Times.  He has proven that there is an audience of all age types for a contemporary style that surpasses the borders between popular and classical music. Josh Groban's momentary and rare rise to stardom is due to the talent that comes naturally to him and his determination.

Josh Groban has been known to perform with the likes of Charlotte Church, Celine Dion, and The Coors, and each time he makes a television appearance, sales of his CD's and DVD's soar.  He has a brigade of fans who call themselves "The Grobanites", and they all range from young teenagers, who previously listened to pop and hip-hop only, to the older listeners, who never paid any mind to classical music. Josh Groban himself will admit to being interested in all types of music ranging from the soft side of pop music to the hard edged bands like Linkin Park and System Of A Down.

Albeit  Josh Groban's growing worldly fame, rave reviews, and triple platinum selling album, he comes across as a down-to-earth, easygoing guy who is a little on the shy side. Success undoubtedly has not gone to his head.
