Rivers Cuomo was raised on a yoga commune in Connecticut. He has been classically trained at the Berklee College of Music as well as graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University. You wouldn’t think someone of his standing would record pop music for the masses, but he has and still is doing so. Pinkerton remains to be Weezer’s most talked about album amongst Weezer fans and with hits such as “El Scorcho” who can blame them? Their first album, dubbed The Blue Album, has also landed high in the rankings delivering hits such as “Undone-The Sweater Song’ and the epic “Only in Dreams”. The debate remains to question why the band hasn’t released quality albums since the 90’s. 2001’s Green Album was teeter-tottering over the fan vs. mainstream line signaling what was to come. What did come was 2005’s Make Believe that shoveled in the cash but not the acclaim from critics. Their most recent self-titled release, known as The Red Album, isn’t doing as well in fan’s hearts but it’s selling in stores (despite Rivers Cuomo in a cowboy hat on the cover). Regardless of their most recent poptastic albums and artistic decline or rather, “experimental” change, Weezer remains to be a classic rock band. With their numerous hiatus’, seeing Weezer in concert is a rare event. Fans can’t expect something so good to last forever but they can go pay their respects, I mean, Weezer is bound to throw in “My Name Is Jonas” or “Surf Wax America” in the set list somewhere. Racing fans don't downshift yet. Though the NASCAR 2008 Sprint Cup Series may be winding down, it is not nearly yet over. With still over ten races left before the year turns over, there are still plenty of precious, precious points still waiting to be awarded. This upcoming Saturday (August, 23 2008), the Sprint Cup Series continues with the Sharpie 500 held at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. NASCAR fans know that rankings are never permanent, so the question remains, "Can Kyle Busch hold on to his number 1 status and clinch victory, or has he not yet seen the last of Kyle Petty, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart?" The only way to find out is to watch the excitement unfold. Coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN but if you're feeling particularly adventurous, check out our great deals on NASCAR tickets.

It took 10 years, $63 Million, and 3 physicists’ lives but it’s finally here: THE NBA JAM VAN (here after to be referred to as simply: THE VAN). THE VAN is a new promotional tool for the NBA to spread its popularity overseas. THE VAN is a 16 metre, 18-wheel truck that transforms into 1000 square meters of basketball intensity (insert Tim Allen Grunts). THE VAN will begin its inaugural tour with five lucky European countries: Britain, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, and offer multiple basketball activities to all who step near THE VAN. THE VAN is capable of dribbling contests on hardwood floors, slam dunk contests on adjustable basketball hoops, comparing hand/foot size with NBA greats, and TVs and videogames for those who prefer a change of venue for TV and videogames. Additionally, there will be autograph signings and photo sessions from NBA Mascots and Dance Teams. THE VAN has arrived and its orders are to give Europe the most rockin’ time ever. Unfortunately, the NBA has no set dates for THE VAN to tour the United States as of yet.
I never imagined a ventriloquist to be so…hilarious. Correct me if Im wrong but when I think ventriloquist, I think creepy puppet a la Stephen King novel that’s going to stab me in my sleep while he laughs hysterically. And no one will suspect the puppet for murder. What I don’t think of is a troupe consisting of a purple creature from some tropical island named Peanut touring with a grumpy old Republican named Walter who is joined by a hip-hop manager loaded with bling and a white trash Nascar fan. Oh and I forgot to mention a talking jalapeno on a stick. Stephen King it’s not, funny it is. These puppets/dummies won’t kill you. If they do, it will be from laughter. Don’t forget to buy tickets to see Jeff Dunham live! They’re going fast!
Yes it’s true. News this big can’t be falsified. I’m sure this news has hit you at least five times today: the first thing on the morning talk radio, interruptions on CNN, billboards proudly displaying it, chatter around the water cooler, and even the bum who sells you a magazine you can get for free anywhere else tells you it as a "hot tip." Here’s time number six: The Buffalo Bills are playing a home game in Toronto tonight. Seriously, no hosin’ around. In fact, the Buffalo Bills will play a total of 3 preseason games and 5 regular season games in Toronto through 2012.
It’s all part of a marketing strategy the Bills developed to tap into the vast, metropolitan area Toronto offers, only about 100 miles away. Unfortunately, there’s strife caused between the fans and Bills executives. Many fans are disappointed and unhappy with the choice to "outsource their Bills this wantonly." But from a financial and economic standpoint, the change of pace should prove to be a great boon to Buffalo, which was ranked in Forbes magazine as one of America’s Top 10 Fastest Dying Cities. The hope is to generate more income for the City of Buffalo and give it the shot in the arm it needs. Fans, on the otherhand, see this as only a sow sign of the future; a future wherein the Buffalo Bills eventually become the Toronto Bills, or Toronto "Something More Canadien"s.
Tonight, the first preseason Toronto game occurs at the Skydome, Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh.

For a pitcher who’s rapidly approaching birthday number thirty-eight, Paul Byrd is "hucking" heaters, "chucking" curves, and uh, "chartering?" change-ups like a taut, young rookie out of college...at least, as of lately he is. After starting the season off 3-10, he has been untouchable since the all-star break, pitching and winning 4 straight games, with an ERA of 1.24. And now he’s switched uniforms. Paul Byrd became a recent aquisition to the Red Sox from the Cleveland Indians, in exchange for a player yet-to-be-named or simply cash. Hopefully, from the Bostoner’s perspective, Byrd’s recent "hotness" can continue. In what can be acutely described as an ailing starting pitcher lineup, with aces Colon, Schilling, and Wakefield on the DL, the Red Sox place a lot of hope and faith in Byrd, who is expected to put on his first pair of red sox this Friday in place of Clay Buchholz. Red Sox fans and players alike realize that as October approaches, the opportunity window gets smaller, and the chance at defending the MLB championship title follows in suit. Byrd may be the catalyst for a hot streak, and if this proves true, Boston sports fans may have to recall two legendary Byrds.
You’ve probably seen them on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine clad in leather jackets and lookin’ tough. Don’t let appearances fool you, if you look a little closer, you’ll see these boys wearing their promise rings- giving hope to teenage girls everywhere. The Jonas Brothers are known for keeping their act squeaky clean. Like many of their other Disney pop stars, it’s going to be a media frenzy as soon as one of these guys touches a beer. Yes, it could be just "a little bit longer." But for now, The Jonas Brothers are happy, clean, and living the dream. Fans wont have to wait much longer either as the new Jonas Brothers album, A Little Bit Longer, hits stores tomorrow August 12th. With sold out concerts from coast to coast, tickets are hard to come by. Their current tour is heading down the east coast and gracing the Midwest with a stop in Chicago, IL at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. Their last stop will be in West Palm Beach, FL at the Cruzan Amphitheatre on September 5th just in time to take it easy come Labor Day.
This weekend will see the Boston Red Sox take on the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The battle of the Sox has big time implications as both teams find themselves battling for a playoff birth. The Boston Red Sox currently trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 2 1/2 games in the AL East, while the White Sox lead the Minnesota Twins by 1/2 game in the AL Central. This four game series kicks off Friday with both teams meeting for the first time since last August. Fans are excited to see this match-up because not only is it a huge series for the teams in general, but because it is always an exciting time for Chicago when the Red Sox come to town. Tickets are going fast for the series as the mix of new comers Jason Bay for Boston and Ken Griffey Jr. for Chicago has only added electricty to the showdown. Although fans may notice the good seats hard to find, they can check the White Sox game schedule to get great seats for any of the games between Boston and Chicago.
