The music industry simply cannot discount the touring force that is Nickelback. Having played more than 120 concerts around the world and selling more than a million tickets, the Dark Horse World Tour will likely come to an end in high fashion on October 30th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nickelback also currently has two very popular hard rock bands touring with them right now in Buckcherry and Three Days Grace. Rock fans are jumping at the chance at seeing three of the biggest North American rock bands for the price of one. The Dark Horse Tour stops off tonight at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA tonight before playing Saturday night in Hershey, PA.
The Canadian rockers are currently on the road in the US supporting their most recent release Dark Horse. The Mutt Lange-produced record is one of the best albums the band has ever released in their 15-year-career. Dark Horse singles “Gotta Be Somebody”, “If Today Was Your Last Day”, and “Burn it to the Ground” have all found frequent radio play on Alternative Rock stations. The 2010 Nickelback tour itself has lived up to their fan’s high expectations with plenty of pyrotechnics, mega-screens, and scintillating guitar solos. There simply won't be a bigger rock show on the road in the US this fall than The Dark Horse Tour.
The NHL regular season is right around the corner as 2010-2011 NHL tickets are already on sale. All over North America, NHL teams are reporting for training camp in preparation for another season. There are plenty of new faces in locker rooms around the league, such as, Ilya Kovalchuk in New Jersey, Jaroslav Halak in St. Louis, and Kris Versteeg in Toronto. The Chicago Blackhawks reported to training camp hungry to defend their Stanley Cup title. Chicago saw key players like Versteeg, Dustin Byfuglien, and Antti Niemi leave Chicago in the offseason, but the Hawks will still be in the driver’s seat to capture Stanley Cup when the regular season begins this October.
Top NHL star Alexander Ovechkin has a lot to prove this season. Ovechkin was hands down the best player in the NHL during the regular season, but the goal-scoring Russian was unable to prevent the Washington Capitals from crashing out in their first playoff series. However, teams like Montreal, Philadelphia, and Boston did better than expected in the playoffs and will be looking to carry their momentum over into the 2010-11 regular season. Don't worry hockey fans- because the NHL will be back before you know it.
Fans are already shopping for NBA Preseason tickets with basketball season little more than a month away. Interest in the NBA is at all time high both here in the Unites States and abroad. The NBA season will actually tip off overseas this year with the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves opening the year at the 02 Arena in London. Stateside, the media’s glare this season will shine brightest on stars like LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, and Carlos Boozer – who find themselves with new teams via free agency. The NBA hierarchy could look very different at the end of the season if these players can fit into their new surroundings.
The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls should be contenders in the Eastern Conference this season after reshuffling their rosters through free agency. Nevertheless, the Lakers are still the defending NBA Champions. Miami and Los Angeles will be favored throughout the season to reach the NBA Finals, but the Bulls, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, and Orlando Magic all have championship potential. Keep your eye on teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks who had greatly improved seasons a year ago. This season could be the year young stars like Brandon Jennings, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, and rookie John Wall to take their games to the next level of superstardom. Whatever transpires during the 2010-11 NBA season, the year will be full of excitement for NBA fans.
As the summer temperatures cool in September the baseball only get hotter. The MLB is rich with tightly contested divisional races in the AL East, AL Central, NL East, and NL West. Fans of the Rangers and Reds, however, should probably start purchasing their 2010 MLB Playoff tickets now as Texas and Cincinnati look to be assured places in the postseason. The Yankees and Rays both seem to be playoff bound, but it remains to be seen whether New York or Tampa Bay will finish the year atop the AL East .
Over in the AL Central, the Chicago White Sox are chasing the Minnesota Twins once again with little more than a month left in the season. The Atlanta Braves have two games up on the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East, while out west in the NL the Padres have three games on the Giants. While the AL Wild Card will in all likelihood will go to the loser of the AL East title race, the NL Wild Card is still wide open. Currently, the Phillies and Giants are the two most promising candidates to punch their ticket to the NL playoffs via Wild Card. The way things are shaping up, the final month of the 2010 MLB regular season should be one for the ages.
