The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Denver for the first time in more than 15 years when UFC 135 is held at the Pepsi Center on September 25th. The spotlight will be shining brightest on the Light Heavyweight Championship match, pitting UFC's most promising young star against one of the sport's biggest names. Twenty-four-year-old MMA phenom Jon "Bones" Jones will defend his belt against reinvigorated fan favorite Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Jones, the youngest champion in UFC history, has only lost once in his entire career (a match where he was disqualified for striking his opponent with illegal downward elbows). An aggressive technician with tremendous striking ability, Jones has longest reach of any UFC fighter today.
Rampage Jackson is on the opposite end of his MMA career. A former Light Heavyweight Champion who most famously knocked out Chuck Liddell at UFC 71, Jackson remains one of the most popular fighters in UFC. The 33-year-old has seen his fighting form dwindle in recent years, but has racked up two consecutive wins since losing to Rashad Evans. Fans purchasing UFC 135 tickets will be fortunate enough to also see top welterweight fighters Diego Sanchez and Matt Hughes battle inside the ocatgon as well as a heavyweight brawl between bruisers Ben Rothwell and Mark Hunt. However, the fans in the Mile High City will be filling the arena this September mainly to see the young champion Jones defend his belt against the one they call Rampage. UFC 135 has the makings of a true classic.
