On April 22, the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2014 lineup was revealed, leaving fans around the country buzzing about the wealth of talent that will be on stage for the weekends of Oct. 3-5 and 10-12 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The Vivid Seats marketplace is already full of single- and multi-day ACL tickets so you can secure your spot early and look forward to this revered fall music fest.
As in years past, this edition of the acclaimed festival will cover a range of genres, with the headliners standing as some of the most respected acts in their fields. Hip-hop will be represented by Eminem and OutKast, both of whom have been making big comebacks over the last year. Eminem not only dropped his first album in three years, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, in 2013, but he also earned his first No. 1 single since 2010 with “The Monster.”
OutKast is a staple of the 2014 festival circuit as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of its studio debut this year. The duo headlined the second weekend of Coachella to rave reviews, including fan favorites like “B.O.B.” and “Hey Ya!” included in the lengthy setlist.
Other rap acts booked for the fest include Australia’s Iggy Azalea, who earned her first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this year with the single “Fancy,” and Childish Gambino, the stage name of actor Donald Glover, who released his sophomore studio album, Because the Internet, in Dec. 2013.
Electronic music fans can find champions of the genre scattered throughout the festival lineup, including acts like Major Lazer, Icona Pop, Gramatik, and more. The biggest EDM artists at this year’s event, though, will be Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and Zedd. Skrillex will be on the road supporting his first-ever studio album, Recess, which dropped in March, while Zedd is still riding the wave of success from his 2014 GRAMMY win for Best Dance Recording, which was awarded to his 2012 debut, Clarity. Calvin Harris, who received a GRAMMY nod in the same category this year, was, along with OutKast, also one of the featured performers at Coachella in April. Watch the video below to see Harris’ electrifying multi-media performance of his 2014 single, “Summer.”
Of course, a number of rock and alternative artists are also featured on this year’s bill, beginning with grunge rock headliner, Pearl Jam. The group’s 10th studio album—and first in four years—was released last October, and ever since, the band has been in high demand around the country. Beck, another ACL Festival headliner, also made a big return to music this year with his acclaimed 2014 release, Morning Phase. He previously had not released an album in nearly six years.
Other acts featured on the lineup include “Summertime Sadness” hit-maker Lana Del Rey, indie pop trio Foster the People, folk rock outfit The Avett Brothers, and the recently reunited, influential punk outfit, The Replacements. Meanwhile, a handful of performers have only been booked for one weekend of the festival, including New Zealand import Lorde, who will only be on hand for the weekend of Oct. 10-12.
