Just over a month since his historic Madison Square Garden residency was announced, legendary singer Billy Joel has booked a gig at another quite notable venue: Wrigley Field. On July 18, Joel will become the first musical artist to make a return trip to the home of the Chicago Cubs, which also is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2014.
Joel made his Wrigley Field concert debut back in 2009, when he and Elton John played two sold-out nights, the second of which was added later on due to popular demand. It's possible the same could happen again this time around, though nothing has been confirmed. The solo appearance will be Joel's first in Chicago since 2007.
While the "Piano Man" has yet to reveal any kind of official, full-fledged tour plans for the year, Joel has continued to book shows at various cities around the country, in addition of course to his ongoing residency at Madison Square Garden. In addition to New York Chicago, other cities on tap to host Joel in 2014 include Auburn Hills, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Tampa, and Toronto. Since 2005, Wrigley Field has played host to 12 different artists, and has held at least one concert each summer with the exception of 2006 and 2008. Pearl Jam and Jason Aldean became the venue's most recent first-time additions in 2013.
