Billed as “The World’s Largest Music Festival,” Milwaukee’s Summerfest has been around since 1968, and each year, the summer event brings together an unbelievably diverse collection of artists for two weeks of live music. In 2014, a host of celebrated musicians has been booked to headline the main stage at Marcus Amphitheater, and the Vivid Seats marketplace has a variety of Summerfest tickets to get you up close to the stage or to let you lounge on the amphitheater’s GA lawn.
First Weekend: June 25-29
The two-week event will kick off with Bruno Mars on June 25. The singer, who won this year’s GRAMMY for Best Pop Vocal Album, will squeeze in the Summerfest appearance during the second leg of his Moonshine Jungle Tour, which continues to support his 2012 release Unorthodox Jukebox. Mars will be followed on June 26 by another monumental pop star when Lady Gaga brings her artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball Tour to Milwaukee. Her album Artpop was released last November and introduced the hit singles “Do What U Want” and “Applause.”
On June 27, the festival’s first country headliner, Brad Paisley, is on tap to take the big stage at Marcus Amphitheater. He’ll be joined by Darius Rucker, who won this year’s GRAMMY Award for Best Country Solo Performance with the hit song “Wagon Wheel.” The following day, fans will get another taste of the genre via Luke Bryan and special guest Danielle Bradbery. OutKast, which is reuniting for at least 40 festival appearances around the world this summer, will fill the headlining slot on June 29. The Atlanta-based hip-hop duo also will bring along GRAMMY winner Gary Clark Jr. for the show.
Second Weekend: July 1-6
After a day-long break, Summerfest will return on Tuesday, July 1 with an artist that is still TBA, but on July 2, Dave Matthews Band will bring its summer tour—which includes an acoustic and electric set at each of the stops—to the Milwaukee festival. The next day, another collective—the Zac Brown Band—is scheduled to perform. The July 3 concert will showcase selections from the country group’s popular catalog of songs, including its latest single “Sweet Annie.”
On July 4, one of the most highly anticipated concert tours of 2014—the Motley Crue Farewell Tour—is scheduled to make a stop at Marcus Amphitheater. The veteran rockers have signed a legal agreement that the upcoming tour, which stretches through 2015, will be its last under the Motley Crue moniker. Alice Cooper will open for the “Kickstart My Heart” hit-makers. The next night, two more rock outfits—Fall Out Boy and Paramore—will co-headline the fest. They’ll be joined by opening act, New Politics. The final headlining slot was awarded to R&B sensation, Usher, who will be accompanied by special guest, Bebe Rexha on July 6.
New Order, Kip Moore, Brand New, Ludacris, and Dozens More on 2014 Lineup
In addition to these main Marcus Amphitheater headliners, there will be dozens of acts performing around the Summerfest grounds. Remember, Summerfest tickets for Marcus Amphitheater concerts also allow you access into the festival grounds for the day of your chosen show. Though the full schedule of dates and times has not been released yet, the festival will feature countless acclaimed artists, including country star Kip Moore, new wave outfit New Order, and rapper Ludacris.
