Super Week is here and the sports world is now converging on the midwestern metropolis of Indianapolis, Indiana - the site of Super Bowl XLVI. The New York Giants and New England Patriots will come to blows at Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday in a rematch of Super Bowl XLII. More than 70,000 fans will have the pleasure of watching Tom Brady and the Pats attempt to exact revenge on Eli Manning and his surging Giants inside the home of the Indianapolis Colts. As the NFC and AFC Champions prepare to battle for the Lombardi Trophy, fans all over the country are making last-second plans to take in the greatest spectacle in American sports.
In recent days, prices on Super Bowl tickets have dropped as the game draws near. Currently, the cheapest ticket retailing on our website is priced at right around $2,125. Fans booking their seats in Indy this week will likely be paying less than Packers and Steelers fans paid last year. Super Bowl tickets last year at this time were retailing at an average price of $3,467 per ticket on VividSeats.com, where this year the average price per ticket is $3,088. A number of contributing factors may be affecting ticket sales, including the differences in club seating between Lucas Oil Stadium and Cowboys Stadium, climate, and the availability of standing room only sections.
Orbitz.com recently reported that a significantly higher number of fans will be traveling to Indianapolis from New York than New England this week. The travel website projects that Giants fans may outnumber Patriots fans 2 to 1 in the Hoosier State during the Super Bowl. While travel expenses and ticket prices may be keeping some fans away, there are a few options ticket buyers can employ to cut costs in Indy. From sleeping on the floor in a downtown office to staying in a cheaper hotel an hour outside of the city, fans will be going to great lengths to save on Super Bowl accommodations.
Regardless of which team emerges from Super Bowl XLVI victorious, this week will be remembered as a testament to the city of Indianapolis. Having previously hosted the NCAA Tournament's Final Four and the Big Ten Championship in recent years, Indiana's state capital will put on its biggest sporting event to date this weekend. Featuring a conveniently laid out downtown and a bevy of hotels and restaurants located in close proximity to the stadium, Indianapolis may come away from this weekend as the real star of the Super Bowl.
Although the focus this week will be on what happens between New England and New York inside Lucas Oil Stadium, the Super Bowl isn't the only game in town. Vivid Seats has a fine array of Super Bowl Party and Tailgate tickets for the week's most private and exciting events. Whether you're looking to attend the Super Bowl NFL Experience at the Indiana Convention Center, the Playboy Party at the Bud Light Hotel, or the Maxim Super Bowl Tailgate Party right outside the stadium, you can count on Vivid Seats for the best party passes.
Los Angeles, California will once again be in the spotlight when the NBA regular season tips off this year. However unlike in previous seasons, the city's historically less heralded NBA team the Clippers will be sharing the limelight right along with the Lakers. On December 14th, the Clippers traded Chis Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Gordon, and a first round draft pick to the New Orleans Hornets for All-Star point guard Chris Paul.
The blockbuster trade instantly gives the Clippers the star player they needed to take their franchise to the next level and gives the NBA a second nationally prominent team in the massive media market that is Los Angeles.
Even before the trade, the Clippers appeared to be headed in the right direction. Thanks to power forward Blake Griffin's Rookie of the Year season, the team saw their attendance numbers jump from an average of 16,344 fans per game to 17,742 fans per game. Gaining league-wide acclaim for his rim-rattling dunks and domineering physicality, Griffin became the first rookie to make the All-Star team in twenty years.
Paul's arrival in Los Angeles will have a dramatic effect for the Clippers that will hopefully extend from the court to the box office. In the matter of a week, LA Clippers tickets skyrocketed from position 15 in overall NBA ticket sales, to position 4 on Vivid Seats' marketplace. While it's unlikely that the Lakers experience any attendance decrease due to the Clippers' good fortune, the "Chris Paul Effect" should keep the Staples Center packed to capacity this season regardless of which NBA team is in town.
Since he entered the league six years ago, Chris Paul has been one of the NBA's most exciting players. The four-time All-Star and Olympic Gold Medal winner led the Hornets to three playoff appearances during his time in New Orleans and led the NBA in assists and steals in multiple seasons.
This month, the Clippers also claimed five-time All-Star guard Chauncey Billups off waivers and signed proven scorer Caron Butler to a three-year deal. While it may take some time for the team gel, the Clippers now have a very impressive starting five in Paul, Griffin, Billups, Butler, and center DeAndre Jordan.
For the better part of the past three decades, the Los Angeles Clippers have toiled in the shadow of the Lakers. The Clippers have only made the playoffs four times since moving to LA from San Diego in 1984, managing a winning record only twice in 27 seasons. However, with the talented twosome of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin wearing Red, Royal Blue, and White, the franchise finally has a real opportunity to compete with the NBA's elite.
The Clippers will play their first home game with Chris Paul on December 30th against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. Purchase your Clippers tickets today to see CP3 in action at the Staples Center!
If you're a Penn State or Wisconsin football fan, would it surprise you to learn that tickets for this Saturday's match up are priced as low as $41? Well.....surprise! They are. Considering the implications of this game and the fact that tickets are so cheap, we want to make sure you're aware of this unexpected deal.
The winner of this game will face MSU in the Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis next weekend, for a shot to earn a bid to the Rose Bowl. The atmosphere at Camp Randall on Saturday should be electric. The loser will most likely be resigned to the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl. One thing is for certain - compared to the rest of the big NCAA football games this weekend, Penn St @ Wisconsin is an absolute bargain.
The average price of a ticket on our marketplace is around $83, which is less than the average re-sale price for Wisconsin's last two home games against Purdue ($93.32) and Indiana ($91.47), despite the fact that neither match up represents as big of a draw as the game against Penn State.
Even more amazing is that $41 per ticket is less than the average price for tickets to EVERY home game Wisconsin has played this season. Here's a quick breakdown of the average ticket price for Wisconsin home contests this year:

So, assuming you're not in a food coma after the Thanksgiving holiday, and you're a fan of either team, or just a fan of college football in general - head up to one of the most historic football venues in the country to watch two teams vie for a spot in the inaugural Big Ten Championship game. You'll spend less than what most people paid to watch South Dakota play at Camp Randall two months ago!

If Nebraska and Michigan's meeting five years ago at the Alamo Dome is any indication of what we can expect to see this weekend in Ann Arbor, be prepared for a thrilling four quarters of Big Ten football.
The stakes will be high on Saturday when the #18 Wolverines host the #16 Cornhuskers at Michigan Stadium. Nebraska's first ever conference game in the Big House is an elimination contest of sorts as the two teams are battling for the right to challenge Michigan St. for first place in the Legends Division and a berth in the 2012 Big Ten Championship.
Fans started scooping up tickets to this game in early July and they haven't stopped. To date, the average ticket has re-sold for a little bit over $170, which isn't quite in the ballpark of U of M home games against Ohio State or Notre Dame, but is still a rather large premium for a typical Michigan conference game. Interestingly enough, most (nearly 2/3) of the fans purchasing tickets for this game live outside of the state of Michigan, with the number of orders from Nebraska zip codes nearly equalling local orders. Nebraska folks are excited.
It seems possible that the crowd this weekend could be more neutral than you would generally see at a Wolverines home game, and that could definitely work to Nebraska's advantage. Although Michigan State is certainly in the driver's seat to win the Legends Division with their final two games against Indiana and Northwestern, whoever emerges the victor in Ann Arbor tomorrow will put a lot of pressure on the Spartans. With so much on the line for both teams, you can count on these Big Ten powers to be at their best on Saturday.
Regardless of how the game plays out in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Nebraska will both end conference play the following weekend with a pair of high-profile matchups. Michigan will welcome their rival Ohio State Buckeyes to the Big House and Nebraska will face the formidable Iowa Hawkeyes in Lincoln. Buy your Michigan football tickets and Nebraska football tickets today to catch the dramatic conclusion to the Wolverines' and Cornhuskers' seasons.
Get your fan gear ready and get your rivalry hats on - this week's college football Saturday is going to be a doozy. Our resident CFB expert James has pulled together some info about the weekend's biggest games, so read on to find out what you absolutely cannot miss:
This first-ever regular season SEC match-up between the #1 and #2 ranked BCS teams should be THE GAME of the year. Whoever wins this game will essentially guarantee a BCS bid, and will control their own destiny to play in this year's National Championship.
Alabama already has three wins over ranked opponents and has yet to surrender more than two touchdowns in a game. LSU has beaten five ranked opponents and has held their opponents to fewer than 11 points in all but two games.
What makes this particular game so intriguing is that it's extremely difficult to handicap whether this will turn into a defensive battle or a shootout - as both teams have completely out-classed everyone they have played thus far. Alabama vs. LSU could be the most hyped regular season college football game since the #1 Ohio State vs. #2 Michigan showdown five years ago in 2006.
Much like that Big Ten classic matchup, tickets to this years "Game of the Century" are hard to come by. There are currently no options that will get you into Bryant-Denny Stadium this Saturday for less than $300 - and the average ticket has sold for $468 to date. Over the last 30 days, as the anticipation for this matchup has reached a fevered pitch, the average ticket price has shot up to nearly $555, which means the collective value of every ticket in Alabama's 101,821 seat stadium for the 11/5 game will be more than $56 million. To put that into perspective, if we assumed that every freshman attending the University of Alabama paid full tuition for their first semester of college ($4,300 for in-state residents; $10,950 for out-of-staters), the collective value of these 5,772 students' education would be just over $39 million.
$56 million for a 3.5 hour football game and $39 million for 15 weeks of classes? Feel free to draw your own conclusions...
This would be a much more significant game if #14-ranked K-State hadn't been beat by Oklahoma last week. As it is, this Kansas State game is one of two hurdles that #3-ranked Oklahoma State has to jump if they want to play in the BCS National Championship (the other hurdle is their December 3rd faceoff against Oklahoma, which could potentially be huge). However, Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden and their stud wide receiver Justin Blackmon could have a huge game against a K-State secondary that has been exposed in close wins over Baylor and Texas Tech.
If Washington wins this game against #8-ranked Oregon, it would potentially muddle the PAC-12 North standings and introduce some complicated tie-breakers into deciding who will be the division's representative in the PAC-12 Championship Game.
If Oregon wins, it sets up a big showdown vs. #4 Stanford next weekend for the PAC-12 North title, a spot in the PAC-12 Championship Game, a probable Rose Bowl berth and a potential invite to the BCS Championship Game.
Amazingly enough, even after the thrashing #19-ranked Arizona State took at Arizona two weeks ago and the vultures circling over Coach Rick Neuheisals' head, UCLA still has a chance to play in the PAC-12 Championship Game if they can knock off the current South Division Leader, Arizona State, at home this weekend.
You might not see a better pair of wide receivers on the same field than this week's matchup between #7-ranked Arkansas senior Jarius Wright and the #9-ranked Gamecocks' Alshon Jeffery.
South Carolina needs to win this game if they want to win the SEC East and possibly back-door their way into a BCS Bowl Game - despite the season-ending injury to superstar running back Marcus Lattimore.
Arkansas can make themselves viable BCS candidates as well with a win here and a strong showing at LSU in their season finale (Friday, Nov. 25). An Arkansas win will also potentially set up the University of Georgia to represent the SEC East in the SEC Championship on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, which would make that game an even tougher ticket to get.
This Saturday, Nov. 5, marks the date of what might be the most talked about game of the 2011 NCAA football season. Not only do the Tigers and the Crimson Tide already have a heated rivalry, but this year the two school are ranked number one and number two in the BCS standings... and if you can believe it, LSU vs. Alabama football tickets for the 11/5 game are still available!
The annual game between these two SEC schools is now known as the Saban Bowl, since former LSU coach Nick Saban was hired as Alabama's head coach in 2007. Alabama's campus is getting crazy - local TV stations have aired commercials about the big game, and news outlets are calling it "Armageddon in Alabama." Tailgaters in Tuscaloosa will turn the school's quad into a giant party; 1,700 tents are expected on the school's 20-acre center quad for pre-, post- and during-game partying; it's like the Super Bowl of college football - and here's why this game gets all the hype:
- #1 LSU is on the road in Tuscaloosa for the game that has been moved to the primetime TV spot on Saturday night
- Historically, Alabama has almost twice as many victories as LSU; however in recent history it's anyone's game!
- This year makes conference history: Saturday will be the first regular season SEC game where the BCS #1 and #2 ranked schools meet head-to-head
- LSU won the game last year (24-21), and if they win again this year, they should have a clear path to the 2012 BCS National Championship
Tickets are already available for the 2012 BCS National Championship game in New Orleans, La. The game is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2012 at 7:00pm.
Many other college football fans are depending on the outcome of this game for their own BCS rankings and chances for certain bowl games, so the whole world of college football will be watching. ESPN's College GameDay will be on site in Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Saturday night game, and the atmosphere will be more than intense.
Though Alabama has won a majority of the games in the total history of the rivalry, the last 30 years have seen a scale split pretty evenly, intensifying the rivalry even more. From a fan's perspective, things can get pretty heated - especially with all day to tailgate and talk smack before the primetime game under the lights. Last week at LSU, fans held signs reading, "Ready for 'Bama" or "We Want 'Bama" - needless to say, students are ready.
Whether you're a 'Bama or LSU fan or not, get your tickets for the game or make a plan to watch it at home - it's the one game of regular season college football that no fan wants to miss!

This week the Vivid Seats' land of rivalries takes us again to the SEC in Jacksonville, Fla. where we'll watch some University of Florida Gators vs. University of Georgia Bulldogs football on 10/29, in a game that is truly made for fans.
The rivalry, now officially known as the "Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic," was nicknamed the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" in the 1950s because of the parties thrown by tailgating fans before and after the game. The Florida Gators have won the game for the last three years in a row, but this year Georgia is looking tough. The overall rivalry record is Georgia-46, Florida-40, Tie-2.

So why is this game the rivalry of the week? It's a long-standing rivalry that has an intense meaning for its fans. This year, game analysts are favoring Georgia, but big things could happen in regards to bowl games if Florida pulls an upset. Georgia currently leads the SEC-East race, and if they lose this weekend to an unranked team their current 22 rank in the BCS standings will not hold - possibly dashing dreams of an SEC Championship and altering their chances for a bowl game.
Go put on your best fan gear and get ready for the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in the parking lot at Everbank Field this Saturday morning. It will be a good game - and win or lose Saturday in Jacksonville sounds like a good time for all!
Here at Vivid Seats, we love a good rivalry! Whether it's Buckeyes vs. Wolverines, Tigers vs. Jayhawks or even Tigers vs. Tigers we enjoy the spirit of the game, and all the passion, heckling and potential upsets that come along with it.
This week in Vivid Seats' rivalry corner, we have a head-to-head faceoff between two Tigers: LSU and Auburn. The defending national champions (Auburn) are having a winning season so far (5-2; 3-1 SEC) and are ranked #20. Tomorrow they take on currently undefeated #1 LSU.

So how could Auburn pull off the upset tomorrow in Death Valley?
Auburn players have been quoted saying that LSU is beatable. If Auburn is able to overturn LSU's reign in the number one spot, it could be the upset of the season - some analysts are calling it 'the unthinkable upset' - and here's why:
The heat is on tomorrow at 3:30pm ET. Can the Auburn Tigers pull the upset and stall LSU in its tracks on the way to the National Championship? Or will the LSU Tigers' reign continue, on their way to an undefeated season?
There are still LSU Tigers tickets and Auburn Tigers tickets available for remaining season games!
With the 2011 World Series now in full swing, we thought we'd recommend two blogs that caught our attention with their World Series coverage - one for the St. Louis Cardinals and one for the Texas Rangers.
Besides providing up-to-the-minute coverage on this year's series and showing their obvious fan biases (who doesn't like a little smack talk during a time like this?!); the content is witty, with posts sometimes not longer than one word (The Rangers Lose Game 5 - describes an unnecessary - but still evident - blooper in the ALCS when the Rangers held a commanding lead), some stats oriented posts (Will the Cardinals Be Able to Out Slug the Rangers?), and overall good reads.
So without further ado, we give you Viva El Birdos and Baseball Time in Arlington:
