Summer has come and gone. October is little more than two weeks away and postseason baseball will soon be once again dominating the American sports landscape. The playoff picture for the most part is set with only the AL West title race still up in the air. The defending American League Champion Texas Rangers currently hold a three game advantage over the Los Angeles Angels heading into the homestretch. The New York Yankees look to be coasting into yet another division title, while Justin Verlander and Detroit Tigers have opened up a 13.5 game lead in the American League Central. New York will be favored to represent the AL in the Fall Classic, but Detroit has looked menacing in recent weeks - winning nine out of their last ten games.

With the Arizona Diamondbacks and new manager Kirk Gibson taking control of the NL West, the San Francisco Giants will not be defending their World Series title this season. 2011 MLB Playoff tickets are, however, on sale for the Milwaukee Brewers who have a strong 5.5 game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central. With Prince Fielder apparently headed out of Brew City in the offseason, Milwaukee knows that this year could be their best shot at making it to the World Series for a long time. The Philadelphia Phillies own the best record in baseball and feature a roster of top pros with postseason experience. Although there's still enough time for things to change, it looks like the Boston Red Sox will win the AL Wildcard and the Atlanta Braves will claim the NL Wildcard. While you may not be pleased about having to throw on your winter coat for the first time this year, remember the excitement and drama of the MLB playoffs is almost here!

In lieu of the long-rumored Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, the boxing world will get the next best thing on November 12th. Pacquiao will face reigning Lightweight WBA/WBO World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time. The only man to truly come close to beating the world-famous Filipino fighter in the last six years, Marquez has fought Pacquiao close on two previous occasions - resulting in draw (2004) and a split-decision loss (2008). Their last meeting fell in Pac-Man's favor mainly because he knocked down Marquez in the third round. Some even argued after the fight that the Mexican boxing star won the remaining rounds.

While Pacquiao will enter the third edition of this rivalry the massive favorite, fight fans buying Manny Pacquiao tickets can expect an entertaining bout. Even at 38-years-old, Marquez is a cagey competitor at the very top of his sport. If Marquez can find a way to avoid being knocked out in the early rounds by Pacquaio, the fighter nicknamed "Dinamita" will have a realistic shot at pulling off one of the greatest upsets in boxing history. That said, Pacquaio has floored Marquez four times in the early rounds of their last two fights. While people will still be clamoring for a Pacquaio-Mayweather epic after this fight, Pacquaio-Marquez III has the potential to be one of the best fights of the year.

The 2011 US Open Tennis Championship will get underway from Flushing Meadows this coming Monday with a great number of questions still lingering in the late summer air. Much of the media focus will be directed on the men's big four: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray. This has undisputedly been the year of Novak Djokovic. The 24-year-old Serbian has gone from being a perennial Grand Slam bride's maid to a seemingly unstoppable force in the tennis world. Djokovic won the Australian Open and Wimbledon earlier this year, but has yet to win the US Open thus far in his career.

On the women's side, the US Open will mark the return of the sport's biggest female superstar - Serena Williams. Since recovering from a drawn out foot injury, the three-time US Open winner has won two ATP tournaments and appears to be ready to reclaim her place on top of the world rankings. Serena should face stiff competition from current world #1 Caroline Wozniacki, but many experts are picking a revitalized star as the favorite to meet Williams in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Maria Sharapova dazzled tennis fans last week with an impressive win at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati and could be in good enough form to win her first Grand Slam in three years. Book your 2011 US Open tennis tickets today to see for yourself who triumphs this September in Queens.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Denver for the first time in more than 15 years when UFC 135 is held at the Pepsi Center on September 25th. The spotlight will be shining brightest on the Light Heavyweight Championship match, pitting UFC's most promising young star against one of the sport's biggest names. Twenty-four-year-old MMA phenom Jon "Bones" Jones will defend his belt against reinvigorated fan favorite Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Jones, the youngest champion in UFC history, has only lost once in his entire career (a match where he was disqualified for striking his opponent with illegal downward elbows). An aggressive technician with tremendous striking ability, Jones has longest reach of any UFC fighter today.

Rampage Jackson is on the opposite end of his MMA career. A former Light Heavyweight Champion who most famously knocked out Chuck Liddell at UFC 71, Jackson remains one of the most popular fighters in UFC. The 33-year-old has seen his fighting form dwindle in recent years, but has racked up two consecutive wins since losing to Rashad Evans. Fans purchasing UFC 135 tickets will be fortunate enough to also see top welterweight fighters Diego Sanchez and Matt Hughes battle inside the ocatgon as well as a heavyweight brawl between bruisers Ben Rothwell and Mark Hunt. However, the fans in the Mile High City will be filling the arena this September mainly to see the young champion Jones defend his belt against the one they call Rampage. UFC 135 has the makings of a true classic.

The 2011 Cowboys Classic will unquestionably be the highlight of college football season's first week this year. LSU and Oregon will meet at Cowboys Stadium on September 3rd in the third annual Cowboys Classic. With both schools quickly selling out of their respective allotments of Cowboys Classic tickets, game officials are expecting a crowd exceeding 80,000 fans on game day. Featuring two teams coming off BCS bowl seasons - the game in Arlington has all the makings of a highlighy-heavy shootout. The neutral site matchup between top-ranked, out-of-conference opponents will likely feature an atmosphere more akin to a bowl game than a traditional regular season debut.

LSU enters the season with a bevy of stars returning to Baton Rouge like linebacker Ryan Baker, running back Spencer Ware, cornerback Morris Claibourne Jr., and wide receiver Ruben Randle. The Tigers trounced Texas A&M at the Cotton Bowl to end the season and sense they will have great shot at winning the SEC this year. On the other side of the country, Oregon is primed to make another attempt at capturing the crystal football after coming up just short against Auburn in the BCS National Championship game last January. Ducks running back LaMichael James is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and quarterback Darron Thomas is coming off a season where he threw 30 touchdown passes. With anticipation for the coming NCAA football season reaching astronomical heights, the Cowboys Classic is simply a game you cannot afford to miss.

With a new proposal from the owners to end the NFL lockout on the table, the players union is currently preparing to vote on the league's new collective bargaining agreement deal over the next few days. While some NFL stars have publicly blasted the owners' move to pressure the players into signing the deal, the widespread belief is that an agreement will be finalized in the next few days. Many insiders are expecting NFL training camps to open as early as next week with the regular season opener between the NFL champion Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints scheduled for Monday, September 8th.

The players have cited the need for improved post-career benefits like workers compensation, player pension, and health insurance as key issues that will be discussed in the coming days. A vote could take place Monday with the details of the proposal being poured over by all 32 team player representatives. Now that it appears that the lockout is on its last leg, fans are racing to buy 2011 NFL tickets at Vivid Seats. In the unlikely event that no season is played this year, all ticket buyers will receive a full refund. We do suggest securing your tickets now as we are expecting seats to fill up fast when the lockout officially comes to an end.

As the Green Bay Packers rode off into the sunset at Super Bowl XLV last February, many football fans ended the season worried that the coming fall would be without pro football. The NFL owners and players have yet to reach a deal on the new collective bargaining agreement, but positive messages have been coming out of both camps in recent days. It has even been reported that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, and a number of influential owners have been holding secret meetings to work out key CBA issues.

The mad dash for 2011 NFL season tickets is on with the two sides getting closer every day to a deal.  With talks heating up as we near training camp, NFL general managers and coaching staffs are ready to spring to action the second an agreement is reached. Fans can expect a free agent bonanza the day the lockout ends with a number of big-name stars available on the open market. Top free agent prizes include: corner back Nnamdi Asomugha, running back DeAngelo Williams, and wide receiver Sidney Rice. However the scramble for players plays out, most fans will be happy just to see football being played once again this year in America.

Baseball will celebrate the season's midpoint at the All Star game in less than a month. The Arizona Diamondbacks' Chase Field will have the distinguished honor of hosting the league's best this season. From the All-Star Fan Fest previewed above to the Home Run Derby, Major League Baseball is pulling out all the stops for their fans buying MLB All Star Game tickets this July. The 82nd edition the mid-season classic will be the American League's first chance to exact retribution on the National League after the NL won for the first time in thirteen tries last year in Anaheim.

Boston Red Sox slugger Adrian Gonzalez should be at the very top of the voter list for this season's pro baseball gala in Phoenix. In his first year patrolling Fenway Park, Gonzalez has been playing AL MVP-calibre ball. Near the top of the league in RBIs, batting average, hits, and doubles, Gonzalez seems destined to walk out under the lights at Chase Field the toast of the American League. The National League's top player on the other hand is not as clearly distinguishable. Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, Joey Votto, and Prince Fielder are all have great seasons. Regardless of who lifts the NL MVP trophy at season's end, the National League must be on their game to come out victorious in consecutive years at the All Star Game.

On the eve of the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final, world football fans across the globe are readying themselves for Manchester United and FC Barcelona's colossal clash. In what many are considering a dream final, Saturday's match between the Red Devils and Barca will be broadcasted to over 100 hundred million global viewers. Lionel Messi (widely considered the greatest footballer playing the game today) will receive top billing in London. The little Argentine playmaker will count on the likes David Villa, Xavi Hernandez, and Pedro Rodriguez to help him lead the Catalans to their second European title in three years.

Although pundits are giving Barcelona a slight edge, Sir Alex Ferguson's Man United team will have the luxury of playing within the familiar confines of Wembley Stadium. United will need to feed off the energy of the crowd to withstand Barcelona's unrelenting attack. Fortunately for Manchester United, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are one of the few center back pairings in the world that are capable of containing Messi and his compatriots. However things play out this weekend, American fans still have an opportunity to buy Manchester United vs Barcelona tickets this summer. Man United and Barca will renew their rivalry in Hyattsville, Maryland on July 30th. Get ready for the club football giants' American invasion by checking out the final tomorrow afternoon on FOX at 2 PM ET.
