It took nearly three months to iron out details after his initial tour announcement, but at last, country legend George Strait has nailed down a date for his grand finale. As previously revealed, AT&T Stadium will host the last concert on the second and final leg of Strait’s farewell venture, The Cowboy Rides Away Tour 2014, and that show has officially been booked for Saturday, June 7.
With the ability to hold over 100,000 fans, there is perhaps no better place than the sprawling Arlington, Texas, venue to hold what is sure to be a spectacle of epic proportions. As if the excitement surrounding Strait’s final tour date wasn’t enough, lucky fans in attendance also will be treated to a star-studded performance lineup featuring numerous special guests, plus a formal opening act.
Eleven artists in all have been confirmed, including Jason Aldean, Martina McBride, Vince Gill, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Ronnie Dunn, and Lee Ann Womack, while Asleep At the Wheel has been selected for the opening slot. According to the event’s official release, each of the 11 acts will play three songs apiece during the concert, and most also will be present on various George Strait tour dates earlier in the venture.
The trek is scheduled to launch on Jan. 9 in Bossier City, La., and will visit roughly six venues a month through April before going on hiatus until May. Click HERE for more details and the full list of stops.
