Following a brief West Coast tour early in 2014, Jason Mraz announced on July 14 that he will spend much of his summer back on the road with new nationwide dates for his upcoming Yes! Tour. The venture takes its name from Mraz’s fifth studio album that’s due out July 15. Before his latest single, “Love Someone,” dropped in mid-May, the GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter hadn’t released any new music since 2012’s Love is a Four Letter Word.
The all-female folk rock quartet Raining Jane, which is also featured in the video above, contributed to several more tracks on Yes! and is expected to be joining Mraz for all of the dates on his 2014 tour schedule. The forthcoming album doesn’t mark the first time the two California-based acts have worked together, though; Raining Jane also co-wrote “A Beautiful Mess,” the closing track from Mraz’s 2008 release, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things, in addition to music for the 2012 documentary The Big Fix.
Mraz’s upcoming tour dates with Raining Jane are expected to kick off in late August, when the two acts will headline San Diego’s Civic Theatre for three consecutive nights (Aug. 21-23). The trek will end in Chicago later in the fall with two nights at the Chicago Theatre, Nov. 7-8. The Yes! Tour has been billed as an intimate evening of performances from Mraz and Raining Jane, as it supports the coffeehouse guitarist’s first fully acoustic release. Early set lists from the spring leg of the tour featured Mraz’s early signature hits like “I’m Yours” alongside a huge sampling of tracks from the new record, giving fans the chance to experience new ballads like “You Can Rely on Me” in a live setting with full backing support from Raining Jane.
