The third installment of September’s iHeartRadio Music Festival is primed to be the biggest one yet. Though never short on superstars, the 2013 iHeartRadio lineup, announced July 15, may have outdone itself this time around, as it will boast the likes of Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, and Bruno Mars, just to name a few.
Set to return to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the event will once again span two days, Sept. 20-21, though this year also will include the iHeartRadio Music Festival Village. While the headlining acts will all share time inside the venue, the village will offer fans an outdoor stage at The Lot (a space off the Las Vegas strip) on Sept. 21, with performances by Miley Cyrus, Ne-Yo, The Wanted, The Band Perry, and Avril Lavigne, among others.
As for the main event, Katy Perry, who is currently in the middle of work on her fourth studio album and has been absent from the tour circuit since 2012, will return to the stage on Friday. Joining her on the bill that day will be Queen (with Adam Lambert on vocals), fun., Elton John, Keith Urban, J. Cole, Muse, DJ Tiesto, and Chris Brown.
The following day, Justin Timberlake, who is preparing to release the second half of “The 20/20 Experience” later in the year, will make his iHeartRadio Festival debut, in addition to sets by Paul McCartney, Tim McGraw, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Phoenix, Ke$ha, Miguel, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and DJs Zedd and Benny Benassi.
Founded in 2011, the iHeartRadio Music Festival has quickly become one of the year’s most anticipated events, due in large part to its ability to bring together so many different A-list artists all under one roof. The fest’s healthy mix of genres has also been a huge draw for music fans, as the long list of past performers includes such diverse acts as Carrie Underwood, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and John Mayer.
As a result, iHeartRadio Music Festival tickets sell quickly, so shop early and often for a vast array of options. Guests are advised to note that separate tickets will be needed for performances at the iHeartRadio Music Festival Village and for those held inside the MGM Grand.
