New York’s eighth annual Comic Con is on its way to the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and from Oct. 10-13 you can see the talented actors, comedians, and writers who have made comic conventions across the world such overwhelmingly popular destinations for pop culture fans.
Plenty of exciting New York Comic Con panels will be taking place over the course of the weekend, so keep in mind the events included below are only a small sampling of the massive Comic Con schedule of events for the 2013 convention. Thursday, Oct. 10 | Hours: 12 PM – 10 PM ET The first day of the convention will feature fewer major entertainers, but there will be many panels throughout the day about making comics, comic history, and even a PBS documentary about superheroes. The final event of Thursday will feature Comedy Mutant, which describes itself as “a hydra of comedians who are hysterically disturbed for your enjoyment.” Comedy Mutant will feature sets from Janeane Garofalo, Brian Posehn, Myq Kaplan, and Mike Drucker as the official kickoff event.
Friday, Oct. 11 | Hours: 10 AM – 10 PM ET Friday will feature panels and screenings from Adult Swim’s “Robot Chicken” (featuring an appearance from creator Seth Green), “The Venture Brothers” (with co-creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer), and the animated web-comic “Cyanide and Happiness.” Max Brooks, author of “World War Z,” will host a panel about zombie survival, while comedian B.J. Novak will be on site to speak about his new book, “One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories.”
Saturday, Oct. 12 | Hours: 10 AM – 10 PM ET Saturday is one of the most action-packed days of the convention, and many of the biggest celebrities will be on hand this day. Much of the voice cast of the FX animated series, “Archer,” will be on the main stage for a Q&A session featuring H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Chris Parnell, and Jessica Walter. Fans of “Mythbusters” can see a live pumpkin smashing demonstration from the show’s three assistants, while a 50th anniversary celebration of “Doctor Who” will bring fans and experts together to talk about the beloved British sci-fi program. Several cast members from AMC’s “The Walking Dead” will be previewing the fourth season with fans, a special preview of the new NBC show “Dracula” will be screened, and “Community” creator Dan Harmon will discuss his new animated comedy, “Rick and Morty.”
Sunday, Oct. 13 | Hours: 10 AM – 5 PM ET Closing out the weekend, children’s author R.L. Stine and “Star Trek” star William Shatner will both be hosting Q&A sessions in the morning, but later in the day they’ll remain on site for meet-and-greets. A screening of the new animated comedy “Chozen” will take place with the voice cast that includes Hannibal Buress, Bobby Moynihan, and Method Man. The cast of FX’s “The League,” led by comedians Nick Kroll and Paul Scheer, will also host a Q&A session about their five seasons of success on the show.
