As patriotic revelers across the country are preparing to dust off the grill and light off sparklers later this week, we at Vivid Seats have been hard at work brainstorming a list of summer songs that are sure to delight guests at your next cookout. This 2013 summer playlist was created with Independence Day in mind, but this all-encompassing collection is sure to endure for weeks to come.
This year, our Fourth of July playlist is chock-full of summery feel-good tunes, “American”-themed tracks, and songs from quintessential American musicians from the past few decades. In honor of the “great American melting pot,” the summer mix includes music from a variety of artists, genres, and decades to keep your toe tapping through the heat of the next few months (It’s not often you can get away with including Daft Punk, Bruce Springsteen, and Sam Cooke on the same playlist.). You’ll hear a little something from Motown, ‘60s surf rock, ‘90s alternative rock, and today’s Top 40 hits, among others.
You can access the Spotify playlist below to listen to our top picks for all your 2013 poolside hangouts. While listening, don’t forget you can hear many of these artists live this year, thanks to the selection of concert tickets available in the marketplace. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis just announced they’ll travel the U.S. this fall, while the classic rockers in Journey are kicking off a North American tour later this month. You can also find tickets for Icona Pop, Rascal Flatts, the Beach Boys, Hall and Oates, and more.
