Larry the Cable Guy

If Larry the Cable guy is remembered for nothing else it will be his catch phrase of "Git-R-Done". This phrase placed Dan Whitney AKA Larry the Cable Guy in the limelight of the American public and drew a truckload of fans from every hoot and holler in the United States. Dan proved beyond doubt that he had that special comedy ability and became the hottest comic act in the year 2000.

Dan Whitney claims to have been born in the bed of an El Camino during one of the Foghat concerts. His southern drawl may fool a lot of people but Larry was actually raised in Pawnee City Nebraska on a pig farm. He ws raised as a traditional church going individual, however that did not stop Larry when it comes to strip bars upon reaching the age of 18. Being fascinated with the redneck life Larry used many of the situations he viewed along with his humorous nature to amuse many of his friends. It was then that his friends dared Larry to attempt stand up comedy. In 1986 he took his friends up on this dare and came out of the “Comedy Closet”. The fans went crazy over his slow “Redneck” style and within a two year period Larry was on his way to stardom.

Larry’s one-liner act was soon the most popular comedy routine available in the South and the television networks were soon eyeing Larry. He shortly afterwards had appearances scheduled on “Evening at the Improv” as well as on “Comic Strip Live”. These live appearances served to increased his current fan base beyond the rural America that Larry was used to. He really hit the big-time when he was taken under the wings of the nationally syndicated radio comedy “Bob and Tom Show”. They provided Larry with more exposure then he could handle. His radio success continued when he was selected as a regular on the Jeff Foxworthy's Country Countdown Show. Before long Larry was syndicating his Redneck style commentaries to no less then fourteen markets nationwide.

Foxworthy invited the comic to participate in his Blue Collar Comedy Tour in 2000. With a successful profit of $15 million, as well as one million copies of the DVD sold it turned Larry into a comedy superstar. This success prompt Larry to debut his own CD entitled “Lord, I Apologize” in 2001. The CD remained on the comedy Top 20 for a two year run.
