About 50 Cent
50 Cent broke into the rap scene in 2003 with his album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. He was discovered by Eminem and signed to Interscope Records where Eminem teamed up with Dr. Dre to produce the album. 50 Cent’s next album was 2005’s The Massacre. Both his albums achieved great success, selling over 21 million copies worldwide. His next album, Curtis was released in 2007 with Before I Self Destruct following in 2008. 50 Cents real name is Curtis Jackson. He grew up in Queens, New York selling drugs during the crack craze in the eighties. He was introduced to Jam Master Jay of Run DMC who really taught 50 Cent how to structure his songs. 50 Cent was shot in the back nine times before he made it big as a rapper. Before the shooting occurred he had a deal with Columbia Records but it was dropped. 50 Cent couldn’t find anyone to sign him so he went to Canada where he recorded the songs that made up the 2002 Guess Who’s Back? Record, which was what gained the attention of Eminem in the first place. Now 50 Cent tickets are worth something and 50 Cent tour dates span the globe.
