Ahmad Jamal is a highly regarded American jazz pianist. He began using the name “Ahmad Jamal” after his conversion to Islam around 1952.
Jamal’s style has changed steadily over time. From the light breezy style of the ‘50s and the funk and Caribbean stylings of the ‘70s, he accentuated on the large open voicings and bravura-laden playing in the ‘90s.
