Alabama Shakes Launching 2013 North American Tour in June

Building on the momentum of their GRAMMY-nominated debut album, “Boys & Girls,” Alabama Shakes will be kicking off a 2013 North American Tour this summer. The 17-show jaunt will send the Southern rock quartet throughout the continent in June and July, beginning with a gig at LC Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio, on June 18, and ending with a show at The Cabooze in Minneapolis, Minn., on July 28. Luckily for fans, the band has many concerts scheduled before the headlining tour begins, including shows at the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival in Napa, Calif. (May 10), the Free Press Summer Fest in Houston, Texas (June 1), a show with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. (June 2), and back-to-back nights at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Ala. (June 7-8).

For the tour, Alabama Shakes tickets can be purchased to see the band play at venues like the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. (June 23), Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Calif. (July 17-18), and the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. (July 19). Alabama Shakes Garners Three 2013 GRAMMY Nominations

Formed in 2009, it didn’t take the Southern rockers long to establish themselves as a marquee name in the music industry. Made up of founding members Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, Zac Cockrell, and Steve Johnson, the group originally went by simply “The Shakes,” before later adding their home state to officially become, Alabama Shakes. Having only released a four-song self-titled EP back in 2011, the quartet struck gold with their debut album, Boys and Girls, which dropped in April 2012. Thanks to significant widespread exposure including appearances at Bonnaroo and on various late night talk shows, Alabama Shakes quickly rose to fame behind strong singles, “Hold On” and “You Ain’t Alone,” and the song “Always Alright” featured in Oscar contender, “Silver Linings Playbook.”

For their efforts on Boys and Girls, Alabama Shakes was honored with three GRAMMY nominations for Best New Artist, Best Rock Performance, and Best Recording Package.
