Alicia. J. Augello-cook, also known as Ally, was born on January 25, 1980 at Manhattan, New York, to a Jamaican Flight Attendant and Irish-Scottish part time Actress. Her parents are separated during her childhood, but she was raised and guided by her loving mother. This beautiful young girl started her piano lessons at the age of seven. She gradated from the famous Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan the age of sixteen. Colombia University enrolled her for further studies, but she never attended and focused on the music world. Acting was her initial career and her big screen debut was “Smokin'Aces”, a crime film released in 2007.
The twenty eight year old lady from the Manhattan, New York grabbed eleven Grammy awards so far, since her debut “Songs in a Mirror” in 2001. She opened her new recording studio “The Oven Studios” in Long Island, New York.
“Songs in a Mirror” which won five Grammy awards, was sold 50,000 copies on the first day of its release on June 5, 2001. She grabbed two Grammy awards for her single “No One” in 2007. Her latest release is “As I Am”, which was sold more than 1.6 million copies in US during the first month. “As I Am” will be eligible for the 2009 awards. This young talented lady will bring laurels to the country and will be the “Pride of the Nation”.
