Bob Mould Background Information
Bob Mould or Robert Mould was born October 16th, 1960. He is popularly known as an American musician, a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist. He was founder of the rock bands Husker Du and Sugar, both of the 1980s and 90s respectively. He was born in Malone, New York. Bob Mould is now openly gay. Growing up took him to several places such as Pine City, Minnesota and Minneapolis. He attended Macalester College. During the late 1970 he and Grant Hart a drummer/guitarist and singer, formed Husker Du.
The group gained attraction as a group that played ‘speed core' punk rock. Husker Du had some recordings with SST records an independent label. In time they added tuneful melodies and their music evolved. Husker Du was popular but did not achieve major commercial success though are cited as one of the major influences on 1990s alternative type of rock. In the 1988 the group fell apart due to personal problems and drug use among some members.
After the break up of Husker Du, Bob Mould in a remote farm house quit drinking and drugs and wrote what was to be his first solo album. He signed with Virgin records and released “workbook' in 1989. A follow up album was released in 1991 and was called Black sheets of Rain. His released albums include ‘The Last Dog and Pony Show', ‘Modulate', ‘Long Playing Grooves', ‘Body of Song' and ‘Bob Mould'. His coming album titled ‘District line' would be released this year, 2008. He opened a musical record label called Singles only label and have released singles from bands such as Grant lee Buffalo, Soul Asylum, Impaler, The Zulus and Articles of Faith.
