Robert Seger was a student of Tappan Junior High School and Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, and he finished his studies in 1963.

Then he came back to Ann Arbor, where he worked with the Town Criers, later Doug Brown and the Omens. It was this band. In 1965 he presented his first single for the Cameo-Parkway Records.

During his music career, Seger tried himself in different genres and subgenres (e.g. glam metal, grunge, alternative rock, rap metal, hard-core etc.). His Greatest Hits collection became a sell-out disc, accounting for over 8 million items by the end of 2006. Seger went for a tour in 1996, which brought success and resulted in the fourth-largest number of tickets sold during any North American tour that year.

In June 1997 Seger decided to move with his family to Nipigon, Ontario, for about ten years in order to devote the time to his wife and two young kids. However, 9 years later Seger understood that he couldnt live without music, and in 2006 his first release during the last 9 years 'Face the Promise' came out.
