Brian Setzer Orchestra (BSO) is one of the jump and swing blues band produced by the Stray Cats front man Brian Setzer in 1990. The group became famous covering Louis Prima's “Jump Jive an' Wail” which emerged in Prima's 1957 album titled “The Wildest”. “Getting' in the Mood” was the Brian Setzer Orchestra's follow up hit single. The group led the way for many other artists like Squirrel Nut Zippers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Cherry Popping Daddies. BSO is usually seen at the time of December holidays singing the Christmas songs.
Brian Setzer was born on April 10, 1959 in Massapequa in New York. He is a vocalist, American guitarist and a songwriter. Setzer led the famous rockabilly band called “Stray Cats”, commencing in January, 1980. After he performed in a large number of places from the city of New York through Philadelphia, in June, 1980, Brian Setzer, Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker decided to visit London, England. They supposed people would appreciate and understand their style and sound there. Upon arrival, they decided to name themselves “Stray Cats”, name recommended by Rocker. They released a series of successful tracks after they were noticed by Dave Edmunds, a producer in the United Kingdom.
In 1999 Gibson Awards, he was awarded the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award. He earned three Grammy Awards for Best Pop Performance Duo/Group for “Jump Jive an' Wail” and 2 Best Pop Instrumental Performance awards for “Caravan” and “Sleepwalk” since 2000.
