Chevelle Band Information

Chevelle is an American based hard rock band. It was formed in Chicago in 1995 by three brothers: Pete (the lead vocalist and guitarist), Sam (percussion/drums) and Matt Scott (vocals/bass). But soon after Pete and Sam’s brother Joe Loeffler learnt to play bass. The elder brothers liked Joe’s playing more than Scott’s. This led to Scott leaving the band and being replaced by Joe. They got the idea for their band’s name from Chevrolet Chevelle, their dad’s favorite car. Joe was only 14 years old when the band started performing in clubs and small outdoor concerts in Chicago.

“The Blue Album” was a demo recorded by Chevelle before they were signed on to Squint Entertainment belonging to Steve Taylor. Point #1 was their first full length album. “Point#1” and “Mia” were singles which were released with song videos. These songs received the “Hard Music Song” award by GMA Dove Awards. The album as such received the “Hard Music Album” award in 2000.

Chevelle was initially considered as a Christian band due to the song lyrics incorporating Christian themes especially songs like “Point#1” and “Mia”. Also, Squint Entertainment usually signs in Christian artists exclusively.

Their second album was “Wonder What’s Next” after being signed by Epic Records. Just before the release of their third album “This Type of Thinking”, the youngest brother Joe left the band. There is still a doubt as to whether he quit or whether he was fired. Their fourth album was “Vena Sera” which was released in 2007 with Dean Bernardini as the new bassist.

On the whole Chevelle has come out with four studio albums, one DVD and one live album.
