Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea Background Information

Recent years have witnessed the band’s rising interest in contemporary classical music. Chick Corea composed his first piano concerto and an adaptation of his Spain for a full symphony orchestra. It was first performed in 1999 together with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. A couple of years later, Chick Corea released his first composition not to feature any keyboards: String Quartet No. 1. In fact, it was specifically written for and performed by the world-famous Orion String Quartet.

Chick Corea continues releasing jazz fusion concept albums such as To the Stars (released in 2004) and Ultimate Adventure (released in 2006). The latter won the Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group.
