American musician Chris Cornell is best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the rock bands Soundgarden (from 1984 until 1997) and then Audioslave (from 2001). Chris Cornell was also the frontman for Temple of the Dog (from 1990 until 1992).
Cornell began his musical career as a drummer. Then he moved on to become a singer and guitarist. Chris also enjoyed acclaim as a solo artist with his debut solo album titled Euphoria Morning released in 1999. Its follow-up album, Carry On, will be released in June 2007.
In late 2006, the singer began recording his second solo album, entitled Carry On, together with producer Steve Lillywhite. Among other performers, who are expected to accompany Chris on his second solo album, is his friend and legendary musician Gary Lucas. The latter has contributed acoustic guitar to several tracks on the album. Chris has recently stated that he is always writing, and that there are several compositions that he did not put into an Audioslave album. The record release date has been appointed to June 5, 2007.
Among the artists that contributed to the tracks on Carry On are guitarists Brian Ray, Gary Lucas, Cameron Greider and Dimitri Coats, jazz bassist Miles Mosley, and drummer Ni Zidkyahu. On February 15, 2007, the musician officially announced his departure from the band Audioslave, due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, as he himself stated.
