The Country Music Association Awards are picked out annually by the board of business members part of the Country Music Association. The first awards were presented in 1967 and the ceremony became televised the following year on NBC. In 1969, the ceremony was televised live. The CMA Awards have been broadcast through NBC, CBS, and are now broadcast through ABC. They usually take place in October or November. The awards are nearly always held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
