Coachella 2014 is shaping up to be one of the year's biggest music festivals, with a lineup including stars like OutKast, Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Arcade Fire, Lorde, Zedd, and dozens more artists from around the world. There are plenty of activities and amenities that will be available on the grounds surrounding the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., during the first weekend of this year's festival, scheduled to take place from April 11-13.
Coachella Music Festival Ticket Information
Admission passes to Coachella 2014 will be issued in the form of wristbands. It is vital that you maintain the wristband throughout the entire first weekend, as the festival reserves the right to refuse access to attendees with damaged or altered wristbands.
If you are also attending the second weekend, you cannot wear both wristbands to either weekend, as the individual passes may not scan properly at the front gates.
Coachella Music Festival General Information
Prohibited items include umbrellas, blankets, instruments, outside food and drink, chairs, pets, squirt guns, professional cameras, audio recorders, and any large bags. You can bring medium-sized backpacks, but they must be within the following dimensions: 20" tall x 15" wide x 9" thick.
On site, attendees will be able to find first aid stations, lost and found booths, ATMs, lockers, and diverse vendors selling essentials like water, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and more.
All the performances from April 11-13 will take place rain or shine, so be sure to plan accordingly.
Coachella Music Festival Concessions Information
There will be plenty of diverse food and drink offerings at the festival's first weekend, including options accommodating those with special diets. Specifically, vegan, kosher, paleo, and gluten-free options are available in the Terrace area, which also highlights local and sustainable food options. Other food areas throughout the festival grounds will offer standard and vegetarian dishes.
Coachella Music Festival Parking Information
Attendees that drive to Coachella will be able to find parking in lots next to the festival grounds. Although day parking is free, each individual in every vehicle must have a wristband to be allowed in the lots. The festival does encourage those who are driving to carpool, if possible. Motorcycles can park in Lot 11B. In 2014, there will be no RV parking allowed.
In addition, you can only park overnight if you are camping on site and/or have a companion parking pass.
Pedestrian access to the festival will only be made available in two locations: the corner of Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, as well as the corner of Avenue 52 and Madison Street. The first location (Avenue 49 and Monroe) is also where taxis can drop off or pick up attendees, while there is a designated drop-off zone near the second area (Avenue 52 and Madison).
Keep in mind the nearest public transportation to the grounds is three miles away in downtown Indio. You can also bike to the festival, but there may not be any designated bike racks, so you will have to lock it up on site at your own risk.
Coachella Music Festival Hotel Information
Dozens of motels and hotels are available within a 10-mile radius of the Empire Polo Club. There are also usually alternative services to rent nearby condos, homes, and apartments from April 11-13.
If you prefer to camp, there are on- and off-site options that may include different amenities at each location. Everyone camping on site at the festival must be 18 or older and must have a valid wristband.
Coachella Music Festival Gate Times
Gates are scheduled to open at 11 a.m. PST each day. Attendees that are camping will be admitted to the campsites beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 10.
Coachella Music Festival Accessibility
The festival is fully compliant with the ADA Act, offering accessible parking (in Lot 11), restrooms, wheelchair and companion seating, ATMs, and concession stands, as well as assisted listening devices and sign language interpreters during each of the three festival days. There is also a fully-staffed Access Service Center in the lobby of the Empire Polo Club.
