DMB Background InformationThe Dave Matthews Band was brought together in early 1991 in Virginia. The South-African vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews is responsible for bringing the band together. The band features Dave Matthews, Stefan Lessard, Leroi Moor, Boyd Tinsley, and Carter Beauford. The Dave Matthews Band released their first album “Remember Two Things” on an independent label in January of 1993. After finally being noticed for their talents, The Dave Matthews Band got signed by one of the largest labels, RCA. DMB would release their second album “Under the Table and Dreaming” in the fall of 1994. The album was a huge success and sold over a million copies. One year after “Remember Two Things” sold over one million copies; the Dave Matthews Band second album (“Under the Table and Dreaming) sold over four million copies and started to get plenty of airplay all over the US. In 1996 DMB released “Crash” which was an instant hit as it went platinum in under a month. After touring the country for most of the year, “Crash” had hit double platinum. DMB received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for So Much To Say and four other nominations within the years of 1996 and 1997.
