David Sanborn has also worked as radio and television broadcaster. At the end of the ‘80s, he became a regular guest member of Paul Shaffer's group on Late Night with David Letterman. He was the host of a late-night TV music show on NBC together with Jools Holland. The Night Music show drew David Sanborn together with many world famous musicians, including Miles Davis, Lou Reed, Carlos Santana, Youssou N'dour, and Curtis Mayfield.
In 2004, David Sanborn was inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame, and two years later, he was featured in Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band's new album "The Phat Pack" (on the track Play That Funky Music). It is a remake of the classic funk chart.
