Trailblazer Dwight Yoakam has been around nearly three decades as a touring musician, and he’ll be continuing that trend throughout North America this summer. Much of today’s country music has been shaped by Yoakam, whose contributions in the 80s were dismissed and not considered marketable—but he has since debunked those stereotypes. The upcoming Dwight Yoakam tour is the most recent since the 2012 release of his album, “3 Pears,” which received much critical acclaim and sales success.
Yoakam will kick off his 30-plus tour dates at the Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 20 before jetting off to the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif. (April 27), the Ector County Coliseum Grounds in Odessa, Texas (May 3), and the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tenn. (May 4). Just a few of the other dates will take place at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas (May 18), the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Ky., the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn. (June 15), and the Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, Ind. (July 19). The tour will come to a close at the Casino New Brunswick in Moncton, Canada, on Sept. 1.
