Jose Gomez is a Spanish artist who is more popularly known as Dyango. Born on May 8, 1940 in Barcelona, Dyango is considered to be a Catalan musician whose crooning voice found a ticket to popularity through his sentimentally lush brand of Latin pop. He began entering the scene and made a musical ticket for himself since the year 1970.
The name Dyango was actually derived from Django Reinhardt. The latter is a very popular gypsy jazz guitarist. He is one of Dyango’s personal musical idols. more
However, Dyango did not decide to go into the same genre of gypsy music nor jazz. He decided to establish himself as a balladeer with a tinge of Latin pop music. To date, Dyango got a ticket for himself as the Spanish version of Tom Jones. Aside from Tom Jones, he is also often compared with the likes of Jose Jose and Julio Iglesias.
Early on during the 1960’s, Dyango already found a ticket for himself to enter the music scene through various live performances. But it was only until 1974 when he finally got himself a ticket into the world of album recording and found himself signing a record deal. He was initially signed under the Latin label of EMI. Eventually his much awaited debut album ticket came out in 1975.
It seems that worldwide popularity is just rounding up the corners for Dyango. Upon release of the album, he became a well-known talent not only in his native country, Spain, but also throughout Latin America. He was also able to captivate his fellow Hispanics who are at that time residing in the United States. He became a main ticket for EMI and Catalog. In effect, he was set to record numerous albums during the 80’s as well as during the 90’s. He even got a ticket to record under the Latin label of RCA and even Polygram.
Throughout his successful years in the Latin music business, some of his masterpieces were as follows: La Radio, Esta Noche Quiero Brandy, and Corazon Magico. Even in the early 2000’s, Dyango still finds himself very busy with tours and plans for another launch of album.
Contrary to what others may expect, Dyango’s voice continues to be more lush and passionate as it ever was. His voice is like wine which gets sweeter and richer as it ages.
