Eddie From Ohio is a popular American folk band. The group was formed sixteen years ago. Name notwithstanding, the group is not from Ohio, it was formed in Northern Virginia.
Eddie From Ohio has achieved considerable success, winning four WAMMIES Awards (music awards of Washington DC area).
The current members of Eddie From Ohio include Julie Murphy Wells on vocals, Robbie Schaefer on vocals and guitar, Eddie Hartness on vocals and percussion, and Michael Clem, on vocals, bass, guitar, and harmonica.
Friends Robbie Schaefer and Michael Clem invited Murphy, who was a high-school friend of Schaefer's and Eddie Hartness to organize the nascent folk group. The band’s early repertoire of covers was soon supplemented by originals from songwriters Schaefer and Clem. Eddie From Ohio managed to develop a distinctive acoustic sound, combing sounds of two acoustic guitars with hand percussion and strong harmonies. The band has built slowly their success and critical acclaim over their music career. However, now Eddie From Ohio can boast a truly nationwide following.
Currently Eddie From Ohio continues touring. Its members Michael Clem and Robbie Schaefer also perform and tour independently, promoting their own solo CD's.
