Eddie Vedder has claimed a spot in alternative rock history as one of three guitarists and the vocalist for the band Pearl Jam. Born in Evanston, Illinois to a lounge musician who also fostered seven other younger children, Vedder eventually dropped out of high school due to problems at home but kept recording on his own to eventually form the bands Bad Radio, Temple of the Dog, and the legendary Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam was signed to Epic Records in 1991 releasing the album Ten which broke them into the Seattle grunge music scene. From there on out it was nothing but success for Pearl Jam whom continued to release eight studio albums and six live albums. Not just a growling voice singing about personal and political concerns, Vedder is also known for his crowd interaction during Pearl Jam concerts as well as stage diving and crowd surfing contributing to the intensity of their show. Most recently, Vedder has gone solo and did the soundtrack for the movie Into the Wild, of which he has received five awards for including a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
