The Four Bitchin' Babes is a popular band of female singers and songwriters with rotating membership. The girls typically perform humorous and satirical songs in the folk genre.
The Four Bitchin' Babes was founded in the early ‘90s by Christine Lavin. After the great success of a compilation recording she produced, On a Winter's Night. Lavin put together artists, who appeared on the record: herself, Megon McDonough, Patty Larkin, and Sally Fingerett. The girls toured across the US, after which Christine decided to record a live album of their concert at The Birchmere. The record, Buy Me, Bring Me, Take Me, Don't Mess My Hair: Life According to Four Bitchin' Babes Volume I was released in 1990.
Camille West was chosen to change Lavin, so the new lineup was formed. The new band released another live recording, Gabby Road: Out Of The Mouths Of Babes. In early 2000s, The Four Bitchin' Babes, released a fifth album, The Babes: Beyond Bitchin', produced by Jeff Bova in addition to a live concert DVD. However, McDonough decided to leave the band to perform a one-woman show. She was replaced by Suzzy Roche (former member of The Roches). The new album Some Assembly Required followed.
As of 2007, The Four Bitchin' Babes are still touring, billed as "Hormonal Imbalance: A Mood Swinging Musical Revue". A new CD of their new live performance was released in late 2006.
