Grammy and Dove Awards winning American country pop performer and guitarist Glen Campbell is best known for a series of his hit songs in the ‘60s and ‘70s, and for hosting a TV variety show called The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS.
Glen’s most popular songs include "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Southern Nights", "Gentle On My Mind", "Wichita Lineman", and "Rhinestone Cowboy". The performer made history by winning a Grammy award in both country and pop categories in the late ‘60s for “Gentle On My Mind” (country) and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" (pop). The singer owns trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year from the ACM and the CMA. He also took the CMA’s top honor in the category Entertainer of the Year.
During his forty fruitful years in show business, Campbell has released more than 70 albums. The performer has sold about forty-five million records and racked up twelve RIAA Gold, four Platinum and one Double-Platinum album. Of his seventy-five trips up the charts, twenty-seven landed in the Top Ten.
The singer was hand-picked by actor John Wayne to play alongside him in the movie True Grit, which gave him a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. Glen sang and had a hit with the title song that was nominated for an Academy Award. Campbell performed it live at that year's Academy Awards Show.
Two years ago, the great singer was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Glen Campbell is reportedly working on his new CD together with Jimmy Webb. The record is scheduled for release in late 2007. In May and June 2007, Campbell performed together with Andy Williams at the Moon River Theater in Branson, Missouri.
