Rock has many faces and these may take into whatever form is the current hit of the times. In this scenario, Rock can never really die, or at least be forgotten by the people and the rabid fans that storm ticket booths and salespersons just to get their piece of paper that gives them the opportunity to watch live. Rock is ever-changing and it has so many types within it that these are sometimes get mixed with each other. In this, the performers are able to create new genres that are always improving. In many ways, an old genre may still be resurrected and be loved by the fans. It is a possibility that holds no bounds to both the performers and the fans, though specially for the former, who get a part of the ticket sales.

In this, the band Goo Goo Dolls has done just the thing. To start off, it is a band that specializes in the mixture of two genres, mainly power pop and alternative rock. Though many would just classify the band as an alternative rock band, this would be one-sinded as in the singles released by the band, there is, if not definite, a part of the singles that states their nature as power pop. In 1986, the band was formed in Buffalo, New York by the duo John Rzeznik and Robby Tarac, and the band’s original drummer named George Tutuska. When they began their feats of talent, they were originally planned and played as only a cover band though they soon saw the light and began to write their own songs. There is also a mixture of Punk, which is another kind of Rock genre in the band’s past singles. Though there have been curious, if not unexpected change in terms of the influences and music genre inside the band during the making and release of their third album ‘Hold Me Up’ during the year 1990, which also sold many tickets so to speak. During this time the Goo Goo Dolls became more and more of a power pop and alternative rock band. And with the release of the ‘We Are the Normal’ of the band’s album ‘Superstar Car Wash’ the band was able to experience the thrill of having a single became part of the top 10 modern rock. A band member replacement was made with the drummer. And in 1995 the band released the song entitled ‘name’ that went on to becoming the #5 in the Pop Singles Chart of songs. Along with this came the single ‘Iris’ that also became a hit for weeks..

In terms of achievement, the Goo Goo dolls have certainly upped the notch in terms of their exploits. There is no doubt that their ticket sales in every concert will continue to climb higher. Again, ticket sales one of the greatest money-maker for any band, and the frequent occurrence of tickets going or nearly sold-out are a testament to their talent.
