Breakout indie rock band, Imagine Dragons, has been gaining momentum as of late thanks to their debut album, “Night Visions." Released back in September, the record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Album chart and sold 83,000 copies, which is the best first-week for a full-length album by a new rock band in over five years. The quartet rode the wave by announcing their inaugural headlining tour this spring, which is currently in the midst of a 29-city run that will end on March 23 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colo. And now, due to a staggering demand for more live shows, Imagine Dragons has announced a new 13-date summer tour.
The Las Vegas natives are set to kick off the summer stint at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., on May 7, and wrap up on June 3 at the Comerica Theater in Phoenix, Ariz. In between shows, Imagine Dragons will play venues like Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Colo. (5/16), BMO Centre in Calgary, Alberta (5/24), and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Calif. After signing with Interscope Records in late 2011, it didn’t take long for Imagine Dragons to quickly make a name for themselves in the bustling world of music. To cap off a solid year, the group was named one of 2012’s Brightest New Stars by Billboard Magazine, in addition to earning high honors from Amazon, having been selected as one of the site’s best artists of 2012. The accolades came as a result of the band’s first studio album, Night Visions, released in September and containing the hit single, It’s Time, which had originally been featured on an earlier EP. The song itself blew up as well, breaking into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and spent several weeks on the Alternative Top 10 for 2012, while appearances on late night talk shows, TV shows, commercials, and movie trailers also contributed to the widespread success.
