Anyone who has ever heard the raw, emotional sound of indie rock icons Neutral Milk Hotel knows that one man was primarily behind their incredible sound, and now the inimitable Jeff Mangum is set to revive his critically-acclaimed acoustic tour with a fine selection of tour dates that will see the famed songwriter travel across the country. The shows are set to begin tonight at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS, and then the Louisiana-born rocker will hit up venues like the Majestic Theater in Dallas (1/20), One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans (1/23), and the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee (2/01), before ending the stint on March 28th at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix. Tickets for these intimate acoustic shows are on sale now.
Mangum shows have been very few and far between for the past four years, making some surprise appearances here and there at venues across the country, so this will be the first time many people can anticipate seeing him live on stage. As would be expected of such a considerate artist, a portion of the proceeds of the 2013 Jeff Mangum tour will go to the Children of the Blue Sky charity, whose goal it is to help orphaned Mongolian children find foster families. Throughout the tour Mangum will be supported by fellow indie rock standouts the Music Tapes, Briars of North America, Tall Firs. These shows may be the last time you get to see Mangum perform his magic live on stage, so make sure you claim your Jeff Mangum tickets today.
