Hudson to Honor Sandy Hook Elementary at 2013 Super Bowl

The former American Idol star made her first public appearance after her mother, brother, and her 7-year-old nephew were brutally murdered by her brother-in-law to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIII. Knowing her ability to step up to the moment, the NFL tapped Hudson once again to sing in honor of the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims. Hudson is slated to sing “America the Beautiful” along with 26 students from Sandy Hook Elementary School during the Super Bowl XLVII pregame show this Sunday, February 3rd.
The league has decided to fly the students and their families out to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, as they prepare to honor the 26 children and faculty members who were killed in the tragic mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in December. It’s sure to be another tearjerker, but the collective power of their voices should provide a needed catharsis and make for a marvelous book-end to the tragedy.
