John Mellencamp Background Information

John Mellencamp is a popular American rock singer and songwriter of the Indian origin. John started his music career when he joined a band named "Crepe Soul" as one of the two lead singers there. Throughout his long music career, Mellencamp was recording his albums under different names, i.e. John Cougar, John Cougar Mellencamp (in his early music career), and John Mellencamp (from the early 90-s). John released his first John Mellencamp’s album in 1991, and it was called Whenever We Wanted. The album was ranked in the Top 40 hits "Get A Leg Up" and "Again Tonight," along with the mainstream rock hits "Love and Happiness" and "Now More Than Ever". From 1992, Mellencamp resumed his world tours by launching the Whenever We Wanted world tour. In 1993, the singer recorded Human Wheels, and in comparison to Whenever We Wanted was acclaimed critically. The singer certainly has had some bad years behind.

Mellencamp started year 2007 with the release of his new album Freedom’s Road. In summer 2007, the singer completed a musical with famous Stephen King – Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. In the summer 2007, he released his next album produced by T-Bone Burnett. The album includes one of his most famous songs Jena, which he performed at the opening night in the fall 2007 Tour in Terre Haute. In November, Mellencamp gave a concert in Mankato, Minnesota, where he debuted with Longest Days, another song from his upcoming album.
