John Williams is a world famous American composer, conductor and pianist with five Academy Awards to his credit. The music composed by Williams is so successful and popular that he has won twenty Grammy awards, four Golden Globes, seven British Academy Awards (BAFTA), four Emmys and many gold and platinum records, apart from his academy awards. His extraordinary talent and dedication has earned him 45 Academy Award nominations, which is a record in itself.
John Williams was born in New York in 1932. He attended UCLA College in Los Angeles City, and studied composition under Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Afterwards, he also studied piano with Madame Rosina Lhevinne. In early sixties, John Williams began his career in the film industry and worked with such composers as Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Newman. John Williams has composed wonderful music and also worked as a music director for numerous successful movies including, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Schindler's List, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Superman, Saving Private Ryan, Harry Potter, Minority Report, E.T., the Indiana Jones trilogy, Jaws, Home Alone, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and many other hit films.
John Williams has also composed theme music for four Olympic Games and also composed “Liberty Fanfare” for the rededication of the Statue of Liberty. In recognition of his astounding achievement, he was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2000 and in 2004, he was given the Kennedy Center Honor. John Williams has written many concert pieces too, including two symphonies and he currently holds the title of Boston Pops Laureate Conductor.
