In support of his solo debut, “The Messenger,” which will be released on February 26th, renowned rock guitarist Johnny Marr is set to play venues across the continent on his 2013 North America tour. The Smiths founding member, and current frontman for Johnny Marr and The Healers, is set to perform an 18-date, solo stint that will begin at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on April 11th and come to a close at Paradise Rock Club in Boston on May 4th. During the tour, Marr will also perform at the 2013 Coachella Music Festival on both Fridays, April 12th and 19th. As always, the event will take place at Empire Polo Grounds, in Indio, California. Before coming over from Britain, the English axeman will perform shows in his native U.K. throughout March.
Once Marr makes it to North America, he’ll take his solo show to venues like Neumos in Seattle, WA (4/15); Bluebird in Denver, CO (4/21); the Metro in Chicago, IL (4/25); 9:30 Club in Washington, DC (4/29); and Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY (5/3). Legendary alternative rock band New Order has been named to join Marr for two shows during the tour. They’ll help Marr open the tour in style at the Cosmopolitan on April 11th, and the second appearance will come at County Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA, on April 18th.
