English musician John Roy "Jon" Anderson is probably best known as the lead singer of Yes, which is a progressive rock band. John is an accomplished solo artist, which has collaborated for over twenty years with the famous musician from Greece, Vangelis, creating the duo entitled "Jon & Vangelis".
The singer's voice is sometimes described as angelic. He is responsible for some mystically themed lyrics and concepts, which make part of the majority of Yes releases. Those elements were crucial components of the classic sound of the band. Their lyrics were typically inspired by various books that John had enjoyed, like Tolstoy's War And Peace and Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha.
In 2004, John performed together with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland. The show was recorded and released only for the members of the orchestra, but not for public.
In 2006, Animation was released on CD. However, it was a huge disappointment for fans due to poor audio quality (it was sourced from a worn vinyl record and after was digitally mastered).
During 2006 tour, John Anderson appeared twice in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts in December in Philadelphia.
In 2007, John toured together with The Paul Green School of Rock Music All-Stars. He finished the tour with two sold out concerts at B.B. Kings Bar and Grill in New York City.
The musician has performed together with 4HIM, Contemporary Christian music band: in 1999, his vocal was featured on the composition "The Only Thing I Need" that appeared on a various artists CD called Streams.
